The office of Al-Mustafa International University’s representative and the Iranian Cultural Center in Tanzania jointly organized the conference concurrent with the birthday of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent).

Tanzania’s deputy Mufti, Iran’s ambassador to the East African country and religious leaders from different faiths took part in the event.

Hojat-ol-Islam Taqavi, head of the Al-Mustafa Foundation in Tanzania, in his speech referred to the spread of atheism as a main challenge to the belief in the savior.

He said religious leaders ought to protect the belief in the savior that promotes hope and gives meaning to life.

Joseph Mohuza, a professor at the Religions Department of the Dar es Salaam University, was another speaker, who highlighted the fact that in Christian texts, there is a promise of the coming of the savior, whom Christians believe is Jesus (AS).

Sheikh Hadi Musa, Chairman of the Tanzania Reconciliation and Peace Association (JMAT), elaborated on Sunni Muslims’ views about the awaited Imam (AS) and said that based on Sunni sources of Hadith, there are numerous hadiths from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) saying that Mahdi (AS), who is a descendant of the Prophet (PBUH), will come and fill the earth with justice.

While there are differences among Shias and Sunnis about details, the belief in the coming of the savior is common among all Muslims and even followers of other faiths, he added.
